DROP-KNEE BOARDS

D.K. Boards are made stronger and narrower than combination/ prone boards. A smaller nose is functional for high performance riding. It yields maneuverability, and reduces the probability of "catching" the nose. Stringers are installed. Rails are kept at 50/50 or 60/40. The curves are a bit wider towards the middle and lower half of the board and the tails are kept wider. Crescent tails are preferred because of greater stability. The inner core should be custom-ARCEL or custom-PP or Dow with stringers. Extruded Polypropylene (known by many names) offers awesome responce and memory. Ballistic Arcel with stringer is an epic combination used by Hawaiian D.K. masters.. Depending on your skill level you could design a board like one of the shapes shown.

Dropknee rounded nose curve. For High performance D.K. riding. A narrow nose and rounded curve keeps you from catching a nose and rail. For experienced.

A rounded nose & radical curve keeps the widepoint low and the nose very maneuverable Arcel or Dow Core with stringers. The board is for wedging (steep) waves, and power turns. For advanced drop knee riders that love to front side barrel ride.

COMBINATION BOARDS


All around performers for versatile (prone/drop-knee) surfing. Combo. boards are shaped wider than "strictly d.k." boards and the max wide point is set at 17" - 19" from the nose. Stringers are installed in order to handle drop-knee performance. Rails are kept at 50/50 or 60/40. Tails are crescent or Wing pinned (bat-tail) Most Ballistic Riders choose to ride Combination templates, even for drop-knee sessions because of there greater stability. A straight overall curve and mid widepoint makes this a decent all around performer. 1 stringer and customARCEL core increases life.

The Boards shown are all custom order boards from mostly, very experienced Hawaiian Bodyboarders. There is obviously a trend towards combination templates with crescent tails and stringers.
